About

I'm Michael Schilling. Software engineer by day, side-project nerd by night. I've been building web apps for over a decade, but lately I spend most of my free time wiring up AI agents and automating things that probably didn't need automating.

The Hub

In January 2026, I started building The Hub — a personal AI system that's grown from an Obsidian vault into a network of autonomous agents, each with their own role, personality, and capabilities. I'd been documenting the work privately, but realized some of the technical challenges I'm solving might be useful to others. That's why this blog exists.

What I write about

  • Coordinating multiple AI agents across different platforms
  • Running MCP servers on a homelab for local-first AI tooling
  • Building practical workflows with n8n, Claude, and Firebase
  • Frontend development and developer tools

Start with Day Zero and follow the journey from there.

The stack

This blog is built with Astro, styled with Tailwind CSS, and hosted on Firebase.
